File Name Extensions

MapComp does not enforce or even default to any particular DOS file name extensions for input or output files. The author uses the following conventions which are assumed in the remainder of this document.

.MAP The main input file for MapComp.
.EWM The output file for use by EWView/DOS. EWView/DOS only reads files with this name extension so its use is almost invariably required.
.LNS Input file containing line segments, including arcs and other constructs.
.TPS Input file containing turn point names and positions. Files containing other named points (e.g., airfields, towns, nav aids) have the same format but use of a different name extension would be appropriate.
